Genesis 1: 1 -5 – In the beginning…

Storm Brewing

In the beginning when God created* the heavens and the earth, 2the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from God* swept over the face of the waters. 3Then God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light. 4And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. 5God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.

The Search for Illumination

Indiana Jones to his father, Dr. Jones, after the adventure of searching for the Holy Grail, which was found and then lost.

Professor Henry Jones: [She] never really believed…she though she’d found a prize.
Indiana Jones: And what did you find, Dad?
Professor Henry Jones: Me? Illumination.

Illumination

Throughout history, the Holy Scriptures have been illuminated with art and pictures. The windows of many congregations and cathedrals speak the story of God’s Word in representations of colored glass held together with lead. The ancient monks painstaking illuminated the scriptures with pictures, designs and color. We seek to understand God’s word in many ways. We search for illumination. This blog is devoted to pictures, art and photos that may illuminate God’s word for the reader.
